6X GAINS SPEED
Promises made. Promises kept.
Development of the Falcon 6X is right on schedule. The Pratt & Whitney Canada engine has accumulated nearly 1,000 hours of runtime on the Pratt test bench in Montréal, Canada, using five development engines. The design is “frozen.” And sub-assemblies are on track for final assembly by early 2020. Among the 6X’s advanced features are an ultra-efficient wing, a next-generation Digital Flight Control System (DFCS) and a new lift device called a "flaperon" (combining a flap and aileron) that will enhance overall performance, including on approaches.
8X BESTS THE BEST
A new speed record for the 8X
Recently, the Falcon 8X did something no other ultra-long range business jet has done. It set a coast-to-coast speed record of 4 hours and 28 minutes from Santa Monica, CA to Teterboro, NJ. And it did that after taking off from Santa Monica’s notoriously short 3,500 foot runway. The previous record, which the 8X bested by 24 minutes, was set when the runway was 1,500 feet longer! What’s more, the climb-out was well below the airport’s sound limit.

HIGH TIMES, DOWN UNDER
Ultra-smooth flying in the 8X
Following the 2019 Avalon Air Show, Robert Nutbrown, writer for Australian Aviation, got the VIP treatment on a flight from Melbourne to Auckland aboard a Falcon 8X. In a special report, he praises everything from the comfort of the cabin to the technology in the cockpit. He also notes the low noise level in the cabin, comparing it to that of “meeting room on the ground.” And he’s especially impressed with the overall smoothness of flying with Digital Flight Controls and flexible wings.
