GRAZING THE SOUND BARRIER
6X pilots push the envelope

Dassault pilots continue to test the limits and capabilities of the Falcon 6X as it speeds toward certification in 2022. In February, Chief Test Pilot Philippe Duchateau, and Senior Test Pilot Bruno Ferry, pushed the aircraft to Mach .95 to assess its behavior beyond the maximum operating speed of Mach .90. In the coming days, the crew will evaluate the 6X up to Mach .97 in a series of new speed tests.

CANADIAN WINTER WONDER
Cold soak #2 a cool 6X success

Above the Arctic Circle in Iqaluit, Canada, cold soak tests of the Falcon 6X continue at temperatures as low as -40°C (-40°F). The maximum freeze point of Jet A-1 is -47°C. Each morning, the team of pilots, engineers and maintenance technicians ran through pre-flight and start up procedures with taxiing and local flights. Seventeen experts are involved, including three from Pratt & Whitney. Incidentally, pilots Bruno Ferry and Antoine Doussaud flew the 6X from the Istres test center to Iqaluit in under seven hours with a full cabin, an excellent long-range performance.

CUE THE WATER CANONS
6X arrives in Little Rock for its big finish

While one Falcon 6X endured cold soak testing, Aircraft 5 received a warm welcome at the Dassault Completion Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, following a water canon salute. The 6X cabin has been winning design awards based on first mockups. Now it’s getting the real thing. Aircraft 3 and Aircraft 4 already have fully functional interiors which were installed in Bordeaux-Mérignac. Completed Aircraft 4 will soon undertake a global tour for further evaluation and show the world why it’s winning awards.

CENTER OF ATTENTION

New service center
opens in NYC

In exciting news for U.S.-based Falcon operators, a new Dassault-owned service center is opening at Long Island MacArthur Airport (KISP) in Islip, NY. With room initially for six Falcons, the facility will provide scheduled maintenance, AOG support and pre-purchase evaluations. It’s less than one hour’s flight time to 20% of the U.S.-based Falcon fleet with quick access to resources and spares at our Teterboro, NJ headquarters. Dassault has also been adding service capacity in other U.S. locations to meet the needs of Falcon 6X and Falcon 10X models as they join the fleet.

BREATHE EASy

Advanced filtration
now available on 2000 series

Air quality has been top-of-mind in global aviation circles. In that regard, a HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) Filters option has been benefitting the air quality of the Falcon 6X, 7X and 8X. Now this option has been added to the Falcon 2000 EASy series. HEPA filtration removes dust, allergens, bacteria and viruses. HEPA filters are available through Dassault’s worldwide MRO network.

Registration is now open for active Falcon operators and partners. As always, seminars will cover all the latest customer service news. ABOVE

AND BEYOND

Pilot support flies higher

Operator flight departments get a lot more than phone support from Falcon Operational Support. They get a highly-skilled, highly-engaged group of professionals who are always on the move, going wherever they’re needed— for briefings, training, demos or test flights. They also play a critical role advising on new Falcon program development. Backing that is deep experience with both Falcon and civilian aircraft of numerous generations, making this nine-member team seem twice its size.

VIEW FROM THE SUMMIT

A step toward carbon neutrality

The recent Aviation Summit in Toulouse on Feb. 3-4 organized by the French Presidency of the European Council, gathered State representatives from all continents to reaffirm their support of aviation’s long-term goal of net-zero carbon emissions. Though business aviation is only a minor contributor to the overall sector’s emissions, its proactive stance on Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), new technologies and advanced operations was validated in well-received presentations by Henrik Therkelsen, CEO Air Alsie, a long-time operator of 20+ Falcons, and Dassault Aviation CTO, Bruno Stoufflet.
