FALCONS AT 60 Iconic jewels of technology and style May 4th, 1963, was an eventful day for Dassault Aviation. It was the day legendary aviator Charles Lindbergh inspected the Mystère 20, later rebranded the Falcon 20, on behalf of Pan American Airlines. Later that same day, pilots René Bigand and Jean Dillaire took to the skies of Bordeaux-Mérignac for the aircraft’s one-hour first flight. Endorsed by Lindbergh, Pan Am placed an initial order for 40 planes to sell in the U.S. The rest is history.

MÉRIGNAC MAKES HISTORY AGAIN First Falcon 10X taking shape Falcon 10X fuselage sections are being assembled at Dassault and partner facilities. The all-composite wing is nearing the end of fatigue and static load testing. Test benches are running for electrical, hydraulic, flight control and other systems so that a high level of maturity is achieved before the first flight. It’s a finely choreographed construction ballet. Later this year, in Bordeaux-Mérignac, sections will be mated and the 10X will look like an aircraft.
